Blast into Screenprinting!
with

Description:
This course engages color in an immediate way with this overview of the screenprinting  process. Photo processes will be covered, as well as all you need to know about ink preparation, registration and pulling awesome prints. Appropriate for all levels of experience, from beginner to advanced.

Traditional Etching

 Duffy O'Connor

 Thursdays, January 23 - March 27, 2014

Description:
This hugely popular course in traditional intaglio printmaking is back! Etching techniques of line, aquatint and softground using zinc or copper plates will be covered. Appropriate for all levels of experience, from beginner to advanced.

Description: 
This six-week course offers an introduction to a range of printmaking techniques with which to produce original work. Students will learn and explore many types of printmaking, including screen printing, relief, monotype, and intaglio. Works will be printed with the press and by hand. This course is a general introduction to many of the processes available at CPC, as well as a great refresher course. Some materials are included and a supply list will be provided on the first day.

Fundamentals of Relief Printmaking

Duffy O'Connor

 Thursdays, April 3 - May 8, 2014 
6 weeks, 6 - 9pm

Description:
This six week course offers an introduction to relief printmaking using wood and linoleum. Students will be directed through exercises in cutting technique and generating imagery. Prints will be created both by hand and with a press. Multiple block registration and color mixing will also be taught. Sound technique, understanding of materials and making good prints are the goals. This is a multi level course, where more advanced students will be tutored according to their abilities.

CLASSES! EXHIBITIONS! INKYNESS!

Hey Printees! Wondering what's new with the Chicago Printmakers Collabortive?  There's PLENTY! First of all, we have Megan Sterling's  Blast into Screen Printing class that started a few weeks ago! Her students have been busy creating/ gettin' inky and we're so proud..

Secondly, we've been anxiously awaiting the opening of our new exhibition, Soundcheck - An Exhibition of Printmaker Musicians, the reception is this Saturday, June 29th from 5 - 8 pm.
The Soundcheck portfolio covers ready to be filled!
Soundcheck is a portfolio of prints and music by people who make prints and music. Published by Chicago Printmakers Collaborative in an edition of 20.
*Editioned, boxed suites will be available for $750, along with additional, individually-priced  
proofs by each artist.

Last but not least, the CPC has an upcoming class you don't want to miss out on! 
 Our hugely popular, Etching Bootcamp! - A week long INTENSIVE intaglio class, instructed by Duffy O'Connor.

 The CPC's Etching Bootcamp is scheduled for Monday, July 8 -12, 2013.
 Class times are 9:30am - 3:30pm daily (with additional work time available Saturday, July 13).   $550 ($100 deposit required).

 Duffy O'Connor will be teaching traditional intaglio printmaking techniques of line, aquatint and softground using zinc or copper plates.  Drypoint and engraving will be addressed!  The instruction will be flexible to accommodate beginners as well as experienced printmakers who would like to refresh their etching and printing skills.  Students will explore black and white as well as color imagery.

CPC Updates- Get inky!!

Hey Print Folks,

Don't be a stranger now...Come visit the Chicago Printmakers Collaborative (Fridays & Saturdays 12 - 5pm or by appointment) and check out everything we have to offer! - Fine art studio workshop, exhibitions, artist memberships, classes (public & private),  demonstrations and work sessions.

  Our current Small Prints Show will be ending this upcoming week so hurry and snag some amazing small prints while they're still available!  

 The CPC is very excited to be participating in the Creative Chicago Expo that will take place on Friday March 1 and Saturday March 2, 2013, (10am-4pm) at the Chicago Cultural Center.  

  

 In other Printmaking news...

Here's an update on our current Traditional Etching class instructed by Duffy O'Connor and assisted by CPC intern Eunji Kim. 

So far, the class has addressed proper etching processes and how to apply various techniques to their prints. For example, use of line, how to apply ground, aquatint, stop-out, chine-collĂ© and even how to make oil based ink from scratch.. to name a few..

The CPC's New Screen Printing Class

Hello Print Folk! Hope you're all staying warm on this cold wintery day.. Bundle up and come on over to the CPC to check out the Small Prints Show and find out more information about our print classes & private work sessions! Here are some pictures of our current intro to Screen Printing class taught on Sundays by Megan Sterling and assisted by our intern Cait Driscoll.  This class just learned how to do reductive screen printing with drawing fluid and screen filler for the first time!
