Upcoming NY Etching show, Apron Project and FedEx Grant....

Hey Everybody!
Mark your calenders because there's lots of awesome stuff going on at the CPC just on the horizon! 
First of all, we're stoked to share a preview of our upcoming exhibition, New Work: New York, featuring the New York Society of Etchers. Be sure to come out to the official opening on Saturday, March 1, from 12-6pm for Intaglio demos, artists, great conversation and some tasty snacks.

New Work : New York - The New York Society of Etchers Exhibition @ The CPC

Greetings from the CPC!

If you're having trouble staying warm this winter, stop by the studio where the hotplate is likely to be turned way up while melting an aquatint, or the nitric acid is generating some heat while etching a piece of copper, or where some student is getting a great workout grinding stones in one of our Bikram Litho classes (omg, look at those biceps!), or where interns are re-heating the morning coffee. We got rid of our burning barrel due to fire hazards, but we do have adhesive toe warmers for anyone who is still feeling a chill.

And speaking of HEAT, we're really STOKED for our next exhibit with The New York Society of Etchers, New Work: New York, which exclusively features the printmaking medium of Intaglio (also known as Etching).  We invite all who are interested in learning about etching to attend our big fun day of intaglio demonstrations, right here at the Chicago Printmakers Collaborative:


Opening March 1, 2014, 12-6pm

CLASSES! EXHIBITIONS! INKYNESS!

Hey Printees! Wondering what's new with the Chicago Printmakers Collabortive?  There's PLENTY! First of all, we have Megan Sterling's  Blast into Screen Printing class that started a few weeks ago! Her students have been busy creating/ gettin' inky and we're so proud..

Secondly, we've been anxiously awaiting the opening of our new exhibition, Soundcheck - An Exhibition of Printmaker Musicians, the reception is this Saturday, June 29th from 5 - 8 pm.
The Soundcheck portfolio covers ready to be filled!
Soundcheck is a portfolio of prints and music by people who make prints and music. Published by Chicago Printmakers Collaborative in an edition of 20.
*Editioned, boxed suites will be available for $750, along with additional, individually-priced  
proofs by each artist.

Last but not least, the CPC has an upcoming class you don't want to miss out on! 
 Our hugely popular, Etching Bootcamp! - A week long INTENSIVE intaglio class, instructed by Duffy O'Connor.

 The CPC's Etching Bootcamp is scheduled for Monday, July 8 -12, 2013.
 Class times are 9:30am - 3:30pm daily (with additional work time available Saturday, July 13).   $550 ($100 deposit required).

 Duffy O'Connor will be teaching traditional intaglio printmaking techniques of line, aquatint and softground using zinc or copper plates.  Drypoint and engraving will be addressed!  The instruction will be flexible to accommodate beginners as well as experienced printmakers who would like to refresh their etching and printing skills.  Students will explore black and white as well as color imagery.
